Legislative Scorecard

By combining votes on civil liberties, non-intervention, personal freedom, government spending, and monetary policy we are able to provide a more accurate measure of who supports the liberty agenda. We can also prevent legislators from claiming support when convenient but voting the other way when they think no one is watching. We are watching and with your help - we will ensure Congress knows it.

Bill Description

This bill, originally introduced by Rep. King (R-IA), would remove language from the National Labor Relations Act in order to end the ability of labor unions to force workers to pay union dues as a condition of employment. Twenty-four states have passed similar laws.

Liberty for All's Position

Liberty For All supports freedom of action and forced unionization represents modern day worker discrimination. Freedom of association is a core constitutional principle and this bill would continue to strengthen those rights. By only outlawing compulsory union membership, this bill balances the rights of workers as it would not prevent unions from voluntarily organizing but would simply allow each individual employee the choice to join or not.

Current Status

This bill was assigned to a congressional committee on March 5, 2013, which will consider it before possibly sending it on to the House or Senate as a whole.
