Legislative Scorecard

By combining votes on civil liberties, non-intervention, personal freedom, government spending, and monetary policy we are able to provide a more accurate measure of who supports the liberty agenda. We can also prevent legislators from claiming support when convenient but voting the other way when they think no one is watching. We are watching and with your help - we will ensure Congress knows it.

Bill Description

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2014 authorizes funding and procurement for the Department of Defense.

Liberty for All's Position

This bill authorized $552 billion in military spending, including $55 billion more in spending than the amount authorized by sequester and even provided more funding than was requested by the President. At a time when the deficit continues to grow, the failure to rein in defense spending is fiscally irresponsible and is putting future generations at risk through reckless appropriations and spending. Various groups have identified hundreds of spending cuts totaling billions of dollars that could be made without jeopardizing our security. The bill also included language that encouraged military intervention and military aid to Syria. Liberty For All not only opposes corporate handouts and crony spending to the military-industrial complex but also opposes misguided interventionist foreign policy that puts American lives at risk and often creates more enemies for our nation.
