Legislative Scorecard

By combining votes on civil liberties, non-intervention, personal freedom, government spending, and monetary policy we are able to provide a more accurate measure of who supports the liberty agenda. We can also prevent legislators from claiming support when convenient but voting the other way when they think no one is watching. We are watching and with your help - we will ensure Congress knows it.

Bill Description

One of the main components of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is the "employer mandate" that requires businesses with 50 or more employees to offer an employee health insurance plan or pay a fine. The other major component, the "individual mandate" requires individuals to purchase a health insurance plan or pay a fine. The Obama administration chose to delay the employer mandate until January 2015. This bill would extend that same delay to the individual mandate.

Liberty for All's Position

The Obama administration delayed the employer mandate thereby excusing big business from the costs and burdens of Obamacare. This bill would have provided everyday Americans with the same benefit. What is fair for corporate cronies and bureaucrats should be extended to the average citizen. Obamacare was written by the healthcare lobby, drives up the cost of insurance, and further distorts the marketplace and exempting big business from its burdens while requiring the taxpayer to still face them only places more pressure on the family and compresses the budgets of those already struggling. Americans should not have to pay the cost of bad legislation just so big government and big business can reap the rewards.
