Much like the other farm bill, this bill supports large corporations through direct subsidies. Even worse, it would continue to distort the market through expensive anti-market programs such as the federal sugar program and would lead to indefinite corporate support at taxpayer expense by making many programs permanent. Local farmers have a hard enough time making ends meet and the farm bill makes it harder to compete by propping up large agricultural conglomerates and allowing them to put family farms out of business. Real farming reform means ending corporate subsidies and big business handouts so families can get cheaper produce, sugar, and other goods and local farmers can participate in a competitive marketplace.Name
